The International Workers' Day. Iran’s labor movement should unite against the regime, says political prisoners
Payam Shakiba, a political prisoner in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran in Iran, wrote the following message marking International Labor Day.
“In this time period and following the 2017/2018 uprising, and considering the explosive status of our society, the Iranian regime lacks the ability to respond to any of the numerous crises. This regime is literally in a limbo and facing an increasing number of dilemmas with each passing day. Rifts and endless divides, redemption amongst ranks and files, and widespread corruption practiced by literally all individuals linked to the regime, all coupled with the end of the appeasement policy and international concessions that are now leading to further isolation for the Iranian regime in the region, the Islamic World and the world over, are depriving Tehran of even the slightest legitimacy for inside Iran or abroad.

Majid Assadi, a political prisoner detained in Gohardasht Prison wrote is a message:
"We are approaching the International Workers' Day, as well as the Teachers' Day, while we are still witnessing the arrest and imprisonment of workers and teacher.
The official salary of the workers is three times less than the poverty line.
The ruling regime has shut down all independent organizations and institutions with brutal methods or hi-jacking their identity and substance by putting them in the hands of its own mercenaries and governmental institutions…
The glory of these days stems undoubtedly from the strong wills, who will not give up in the path of their organized and harmonized efforts to bring about freedom and equality, efforts that overcome any obstacle and result in rising up to join the glorious resistance.
Ali Moezi, a prominent political prisoner in the "Greater Tehran Prison", sent a message on the occasion of the International Workers' Day.
The following is an excerpt from his message :
"Congratulations to all workers whose efforts our lives depend on. In our homeland, workers, as well as all other employees, have been put under more and more pressure by each passing year.
Under the present circumstances, the ratified minimum wage is not sufficient for even one person. But beyond that, we see that unemployment and starvation pressure the deprived strata of the society to the point where they are obliged to accept harsh working conditions at half the minimum wage, putting them in a situation that resembles slavery.

Female prisoner says prisoners kept for prolonged time in solitary confinement
October 12, 2017 by IranHRM 0 182
Political prisoner Narges Mohammadi, who is detained in Evin Prison, wrote a letter to Majlis requesting an investigation into the conditions of solitary confinement. In her letter, she stressed that 15 female prisoners who have been kept in solitary were detained with her in Evin Prison. They have been detained for about 140 months overall in solitary confinement and security sections.
This letter reads in part:
“You are certainly familiar with the phenomenon of “solitary confinement” and know that civil activists, political prisoners and prisoners of conscience are held in solitary confinement upon their arrest and under the pretext of ongoing preliminary investigations, for days, months, and even years, and this method has become common practice in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
You know that it is unlawful to keep prisoners in solitary confinement and that security and judicial institutions, without observing any time limit, use solitary confinement at their total disposal…
You are aware that “solitary confinement,” is a well-known form of torture. It is purposeful, has specific effects on prisoners and has victimized many people…
The tragedy has alarming aspects, the minimum of which is:
– Prisoners suffering from physical illnesses and especially mental illnesses
– Obtaining false confessions from prisoners under psychological pressure
– Issuing heavy sentences based on confessions received from prisoners in solitary confinement
– Suppression of the civil society and its activists
– Shocking incidents including the murders of Zahra Kazemi, Zahra Bani Yaghoub and Sattar Beheshti etc…
– Immoral, physical and sexual aggression against prisoners.

AMNESSTY INTERNATIONAL:
Arrest of human rights defender seeking truth about disappeared family members
The Iranian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release a human rights defender arrested from her home last night, who has previously been targeted by the authorities for her peaceful activism, said Amnesty International.
Raheleh Rahemipour has spent years trying to uncover the truth about what happened to her brother and baby niece who were forcibly disappeared while in custody during the early 1980s. She was sentenced to a year in prison earlier this year in connection with these efforts and has been awaiting the outcome of her appeal.
“Raheleh Rahemipour has already been forced to endure the anguish and distress of having her loved ones forcibly disappeared and faces an unjust prison sentence for her efforts to learn their fate. Her arrest provides further evidence of the Iranian authorities’ ruthless determination to intimidate her into silence and prolong her suffering,” said Magdalena Mughrabi, Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International.
“Instead of lashing out against aggrieved families searching for their loved ones, the Iranian authorities must meet their legitimate demands for truth and justice.”

Interrogators of the IRGC Intelligence prevent the release of two political prisoners

NCRI - On July 28, 2017, political prisoner Ali Moezzi congratulated the new US Congress sanctions and the Revolutionary Guard Corps terrorist designation in a message from Evin prison.
The message reads:
The adoption of the sanctions bill is by the House of Representatives and the Senate in spite of the delay is welcome.
Because the more this repressive and looting rule is pressed, the more Iranian people will benefit, especially the Revolutionary Guards should have been sanctioned much sooner. The IRGC has grabbed daily lives of people inside the country and exports regional crises abroad.
In the hope of a serious and complete implementation of the sanctions, I would like to congratulate its adoption to my dear compatriots.
We do not forget that we owe this point to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, a charismatic and capable figure of the Iranian resistance.
For several years of sustained international efforts, she convinced the major part of the international community to abandon the appeasement policy as well as abandoning a policy of pinning hope for changing the regime's behavior.
