IRAN-Rouhani backs the IRGC missile attack on Syria

Russian strikes in Syria's Idlib kill 37 civilians
Beirut (AFP) - Russian air strikes on northwest Syria's mainly jihadist-controlled province of Idlib on Monday killed at least 37 civilians including 12 children, a Britain-based monitor said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it was the highest civilian death toll in Idlib since the region was designated in May as one of Syria's "de-escalation" zones under an accord between regime allies Russia and Iran, and rebel backer Turkey."The air raids struck several locations and villages in the district of Jisr al-Shughur, leaving 37 dead among civilians, including 12 children," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP, updating an earlier toll of 27 dead.
After several months of calm, Idlib province has for the past two weeks been the target of heavy air strikes by the regime and its Russian allies, following a jihadist assault in neighbouring Hama province also covered by the de-escalation accord for Syria's war that has cost more than 330,000 lives since 2011.
The Islamic State group has no fighters in Idlib.
Syria's exiled opposition blamed Russia and the Syrian regime for what it called the "criminal" bombing, according to a statement.
In what the Istanbul-based National Coalition branded "war crimes", hospitals, medical installations, schools and civil defence facilities had been hit, it said.

Deadly Syrian gas attack ‘bears signature’ of Assad

PARIS, (New York Post and AP), April 26, 2017  — France’s foreign minister said Wednesday that the chemical analysis of samples taken from a deadly sarin gas attack in Syria earlier this month “bears the signature” of President Bashar al-Assad’s government and shows it was responsible for the deadly assault.
According to Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, France came to this conclusion after comparing samples from a sarin attack in Syria from 2013 that matched. The findings came in a report published Wednesday.
The Weekly Standard, April 26, 2017 -
Assad's Air Force Chemical Attack on Khan Sheikhoun Was in Support of IRGC Ground Forces Operations
Investigating the events before and after Bashar al-Assad’s chemical attack on the town of Khan Sheikhoun, clearly indicates that the goal of this attack was to support the operations of Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) in the northern province of Hama. Since the Free Syrian Army and the Syrian opposition began to advance in the north of Hama from March 21, 2017, and reached within three kilometers of the city of Hama, the IRGC dispatched its forces in Damascus and its suburbs with its highest ranking commanders to this area. Now these forces are present in the North and West of the city of Hama and around the town of Soran. These forces include battalions of the 19th Fajr Shiraz Division, battalions of the division known as Nabi Akram of Kermanshah, Saberine special battalions of Tehran province and Ninawa brigade forces in Golestan province.

Iran’s Rouhani contacts Syrian dictator, backs chemical massacre

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed his support over the phone for Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s killing of this country’s people, claiming the Idlib chemical attack is “false and without evidence”, outrageously accusing the opposition for the attack.
“The use of chemical weapons… was aimed to diverse the general public’s attention from the truth. We must not permit terrorists use such weaponry, then accuse others and provide pretexts for measures in violation of international regulations,” he said. (Iranian state media – April 9)
