#Ramadan conference in #Paris supports #regimechange in #Iran& #peace across the #MiddleEast
In an Iftar conference held in France titled “Islam’s Message of Peace and Freedom,” the Iranian Resistance and representative from different Muslim communities and Arab countries expressed solidarity with the Iranian Resistance, and support for regime change in Iran and the end of Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East and across the world.
In her keynote address to the conference, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), reminded that in Iran, the first day of Ramadan was marked with the Iranian regime’s violent clampdown on protests in Kazerun, which has so far left three dead, dozens injured, and many more arrested, and reiterated her call for the United Nations to dispatch an investigative delegation and demand the immediate release of the arrested.
For my compatriots in Iran, especially the freedom-loving youths who have risen up in protest, I wish you victory in overcoming the mullahs’ religious tyranny,” Mrs. Rajavi said. “May God’s mercy and compassion lead the Iranian people’s struggle and suffering to final victory: freedom.”
Mrs. Rajavi reminded that the true message of Islam is the peace and freedom, the mullahs ruling Iran have used religion as a tool to push the people’s lives into distress. “Iran’s needy have reached the point where they have to sell their kidneys and corneas. Mothers have become so devastated that they sell their unborn fetuses,” she said, adding that the mullahs are “the worst enemies of God and His people.”
The Iranian regime has plundered the wealth of the Iranian people to fuel its wars in other countries such as Syria and Iraq, Mrs. Rajavi said, stressing that “The overthrow of the mullahs’ regime will shape the destiny of Iran and the entire Middle East.”
The conference took place at a time where the international community is seeking a response to the various threats posed by the Iranian regime. Recently, the United States withdrew from the nuclear deal forged between Iran and world powers because it failed to address the main concerns that the world is faced with in respect to the Iranian regime.
“[The] elimination of the Iranian regime’s terrorism and nuclear threat is only possible by getting rid of the entire regime,” Mrs. Rajavi said. “Peace, democracy, security and stability in the Middle East necessarily depend on ending the rule of religious dictatorship and fascism in Iran.”
Former Algerian Prime Minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali, who also spoke at the event, stressed that the Iranian regime is helping slaughter the people of Syria. He also said that the Iranian resistance is the exact opposite of the mullahs’ regime in every respect and called all advocates of liberty to “support the Iranian Resistance.” “They are the true defenders of the message of an Islam of peace and liberty,” he said.
Prominent members of the Syrian opposition also attended the conference and stressed that the fate and freedom of the Iranian and Syrian people are tied together.
Mohamad Nazir Hakim, Secretary General of Syrian Coalition, also spoke about the role of the Iranian regime in plunging Syria in devastation and chaos. “Iran's regime uses its nation's wealth to slaughter our people,” Hakim said. “But Syria's dictator will not remain forever. We know that victory is going to arrive soon.”
Hakim also called on the Western states not to close their eyes on the crimes of the Iranian regime in his country and called on the international community to take an active role in expelling the Iranian regime’s militias from Syria.
Hakim also praised the Iranian people for standing up against the oppression of the Iranian regime and called for the support of the Iranian Resistance. “The NCRI is the true alternative of the mullahs’ regime,” he said.

#FreeIran #Opposition #Convection in #Paris Maryam Rajavi's remarks + a full report
A number of personalities and delegates paid tribute to a monument of the history of more than half a century of struggle of the people of Iran against tyranny at the residence of Maryam Rajavi, and signed a book in solidarity with the campaign for “Free Iran with 1000 Ashrafs; our goal: regime change.”
The event followed the Iranian Resistance’s grand gathering at Villepinte where numerous personalities and parliamentary delegations had participated from around the world.
Maryam Rajavi welcomed the guests and international personalities. She appreciated their efforts to guarantee the safe relocation of Ashraf residents and added, “The change of circumstances of the Iranian Resistance, their growing activities inside Iran and the aggravation of the regime’s situation made it clear that regime change in Iran is within reach.
“Today, there is a powerful and organized alternative in a suitable position to impact domestic circumstances in Iran and organize protests by all social sectors particularly the younger generation and women. This means that our real task has just begun, the task of liberating the people of Iran from oppression.
“Therefore, let me repeat the main motto of today’s gathering: With the Iranian Resistance, regime change is within reach. I am sure that we can and we must change the clerical regime and bring peace and security to the world.
“Once again, I thank you all very much for standing with us in reaching the noble goal of Iran’s freedom.”
A number of personalities made speeches in this event congratulating the successful convention of the Resistance’s grand gathering which was also joined by Ashraf residents.
Khamenei’s fear following the Grand Gathering of Iranians and rise of Justice-Seeking Movement for the victims of 1988 massacre
Three weeks after the annual rally of the Iranian Resistance in Villepinte in the Paris suburbs, while the mullahs' regime's cries due to the extensive reception of this event inside the country and on the international scene, while the Justice-Seeking Movement calling for justice for the victims of the massacre of political prisoners has turned into a growing social campaign, and while this regime is extremely disgraced and hated for its crimes against the countries in the Middle East, Khamenei, the self-proclaimed Supreme Leader of Muslims around the world, sent Kamal Kharrazi, his adviser and a close relative, to Paris to introduce the PMOI as 'a terrorist group that murdered thousands of ordinary citizens in Iran ', thus attempting to counter the increasing domestic and international prestige of the PMOI.

THREE FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS FOR OBTAINING FREEDOM IN IRAN, PEACE AND TRANQUILITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST
A part of Maryam Rajavi's remarks:
Three major developments impact this gathering:
First, the relocation of thousands of MEK members out of Iraq which foiled the mullahs’ supreme leader Ali Khamenei’s scheme to annihilate the Resistance movement. Second, the failure of the policy of appeasing the regime by the United States and Europe. And third Khamenei’s defeat in the sham elections, which means the defeat of the regime in its totality.
Election farce: A setback for the regime in its entirety
By staging the elections sham, Khamenei planned to counter social uprisings and contain tensions within the regime. For this reason, he picked mullah Ebrahim Raisi, a member of the Death Committee in charge of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners.
Society’s readiness for an uprising, however, led to his defeat. This readiness against the totality of the regime was prompted by the campaigns of Iranian Resistance forces and supporters about the 1988 massacre, exposing Raisi’s background, and calling for the boycott of the sham elections. Hundreds of articles and interviews appeared in the state-run press and media to justify the massacre and Khomeini’s fatwa on the massacre was published for the first time 29 years after the massacre.
Khamenei’s representatives were saying that the MEK has resurfaced in the country. Intelligence and security officials were repeatedly boasting of the arrest of MEK members, who were attempting to sabotage the election....
Three fundamental truths
The winds of change have started blowing in our homeland. The ruling regime is in disarray and paralyzed as never before. Iranian society is simmering with discontent and the international community is finally getting closer to the reality that appeasing the ruling theocracy is misguided.
The same volatile situation speaks to three fundamental truths for obtaining freedom in Iran, and peace and tranquility in the region. First, the imperative of overthrowing the ruling religious dictatorship. Second, the regime’s overthrow is within reach. And third, a democratic alternative and an organized resistance exists, which is capable of toppling the theocracy in Iran.
Regime change, the only solution
Now, what do these words mean?
The first truth answers the question of what must be done to a regime which has held Iran and all Iranians in chains and is the force behind war and carnage in the region. Is this regime ever capable of reform? The answer is NO, because claimants of reform were in office for 20 out of the total 38 years of the regime’s rule and they did nothing but serving the Velayat-e Faqih regime.
Would giving concessions ever change the behavior of this regime? The answer is NO. This is something that has been already tested repeatedly for the past three decades by the US and Europe. And is it possible to contain this regime? NO, the policy has been called containment, but in effect, it does nothing but obstructing the adoption of a firm policy against the regime. The conclusion is what the Iranian Resistance has emphasized since the outset and many in the world have reached today: The solution, and the only solution, is regime change...

Maryam Rajavi at the New Year celebration: With the death of Rafsanjani one of the two pillars of the ruling theocracy collapses
Maryam Rajavi at the New Year celebration with elected representatives in France and French supporters of the Iranian Resistance
A New Year celebration was held on January 8, 2017, at Auvers-sur-Oise with political personalities and elected representatives of France as well as French supporters of the Iranian Resistance attending.
Maryam Rajavi addressed the ceremony and said:
The year 2016 saw numerous important developments, both happy and sad.
In this year, terrorism hit the people of France, Europe and the world on several occasions. The callous attacks outraged all of us, particularly the one in Nice with 86 victims, and the other near the city of Rouen, where father Hamel was murdered in cold blood. Also the attack in Berlin at Christmas. We stand by the people of France and we strongly condemn these savageries that are against the teachings of Islam.
A new chapter has begun in the history of the Iranian Resistance. But first, we must help our friends in Albania. Accommodating and re-organizing such a large number of people in a short period of time is not a simple task, and it imposes a heavy financial burden on the Resistance, as well. This is an effort that needs time and tremendous energy. One of the main problems is attending to the needs of the sick and wounded who were deprived of treatment for a long time. But with the support of each and every one of you, I am confident that we can overcome the problems.
Today, the main loser of the ceasefire in Syria is the Iranian regime which is trying with all its might to sabotage the ceasefire. The people of Aleppo demonstrated an exemplary courage and perseverance. In this confrontation, the Iranian regime plunged even deeper in the quagmire of the war in Syria turning it into one of the most critical crises of the mullahs. We hope that the Syrian people's demand for ending the dictatorship of Bashar Assad is realized and peace and democracy are restored in their country. The only lasting solution for this problem is to evict the Revolutionary Guards Corps and their militia groups including the Hezbollah from Syria.

The 37th anniversary of the Islamic revolution in #Iran Doves of #freedom drowned in blood
Today marks the 37th anniversary of the Islamic revolution in Iran.
Peace melody drained in blood in streets of Iran.
Doves of freedom drowned in blood,
Holding on to their olive branch,
Mixture of brutality and terror in their breath.
Beauty of the Kurdish and Balouch Dance,
Sound of unity and love in Azari Music,
Hope and happiness of liberty,
All washed away in blood.
Shrieks of an Arab mother holding her child’s lifeless body,
Lyrics of freedom were devastated in weeping and howling.
Memories of blood bath in Azadi Square in Iran,
A painted image in all Doves of freedom to this day…!
Today marks the 37th anniversary of the Islamic revolution in Iran. Leaders of the Islamic republic of Iran are celebrating the tyranny and oppression as we are grieving the loss of liberty and freedom.
After 37 years of Islamic ruling in Iran, only and only achievement is the rising of execution, imprisonment, poverty and inhumanity. Mass executions of the 1980’s. hanging of those charged as Juvenal. Arrests and execution of civil and human rights activists. Oppression of women and downgrading them. Dictatorship to point of even laws of proper attire. Prostitution age down to 11 years of age. Extreme records of drug abuse. Suffering and poverty sky high. Absolute no rights for its citizens. Racism and execution of all religious and ethnic minorities. And millions of violation and systematic tyranny and oppression reported daily by Iranian human rights activists.
History is much enduring and powerful to forget or forgive the inhumanity and tyranny of the regime and the silence of international politicians and the united nations towards all of what has happened to Iran and middle east.
Shameful silence of human society to this day has given the approval of death sentence to Humanity as assigned by law of nature.
Therefore, at the 37th anniversary of this satanic invasion, we as members of human society are responsible and is our duty to take a stand and fight to avoid a celebration of the 38th anniversary
Being silent is betrayal of humanity!

An articele in WorldPolicy by Maryam Rajavi" Iran, the Islamic State, and the Perversion of Islam
Overthrow of mullahs in #Iran will guarantee peace &security in region &world
Distinguished Speakers,
Dear Friends,
I offer my greetings and extend my gratitude for your attention to the issue of Iran and the Iranian people’s resistance movement.
I thank you for supporting the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom and human rights.
It is inspiring to see a significant group of distinguished personalities demonstrating admirable realism, believing that the solution to the vital crisis in the Middle East is to confront Islamic extremism, especially the religious dictatorship ruling Iran as the epicenter of fundamentalism and terrorism, and also to stand with the struggle of the Iranian people and the Iranian Resistance.
This Resistance is committed to liberate Iran from tyranny and barbarism, to restore that nation’s great civilization, to cultivate peace and coexistence, and to end the reign of fear and terror under the name of Islam.
Our world, from Asia, the Middle East and Africa to France, Belgium, Denmark and the United States, has been targeted by a common enemy: extremism under the name of Islam.
Its followers may have different faces – Shiite or Sunni – yet their ideological pillars and their plan of action are essentially one and the same.
Moreover, all of them, from inception to expansion, have relied on the fundamentalist regime ruling Iran.
Without the fundamentalist regime in Iran, the idea of an Islamic Caliphate, or the desire to erase national borders or the massacres under the banner of Jihad would not have existed or happened.
The horrific acts perpetrated by the likes of DAESH or Boko Haram today are all inspired by the mullahs of Iran, who have carried out the same type of crimes against the Iranian people for decades.
The regime is carrying out the same sort of atrocities through its terrorist Qods Force, Hezbollah and so-called Shiite militias in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
The mindset that motivated Khomeini’s fatwa calling for the death of Salman Rushdie (in the 1980s) is the same outlook that led to the massacre at Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
The mindset that motivated Khomeini’s fatwa to murder 30,000 Iranian political prisoners (in 1988) also inspired the cleansing of Sunnis in Iraq and the slaughter of people in Paris and health workers in California recently.
This is the same evil spirit that led to assaults on female political prisoners in Iran or Yazidi women in Iraq.
But beyond its ideological impact, let’s consider its practical policies.
If it were not for the massacre of the people in Syria by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is working to keep Assad in power, Syria would not have become the breeding ground for DAESH.
If it were not for the harmful meddling of the mullahs and the horrific suppression carried out by the Iranian regime’s puppet in Iraq, former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, DAESH would not have found the opportunity to occupy swathes of that country’s territory.
The formation of the US-led international coalition in 2014 to confront DAESH was a positive step. But the coalition’s strategy lacked a decisive policy vis-à-vis the mullahs’ regime in Iran, which is the source of the regional crisis.
Destroying DAESH depends on ousting Assad in Syria and on evicting the Iranian regime and its affiliated militias from Iraq.
Despite some differences with Assad and the clerical regime in Iran, DAESH is, in practice, on their side. The prime targets of DAESH have been moderate Syrian forces.
Let me be clear, the ultimate solution to fundamentalism, extremism and terrorism under the name of Islam is the overthrow of the religious fascism ruling Iran at the hands of the Iranian people and Resistance.
For this reason, the mullahs spare no opportunity to commit crimes meant to destroy this Resistance, including missile attacks on its defenseless members in Camp Liberty in Iraq. This is because the mullahs view the Iranian Resistance as an existential threat.
Allow me here to express my gratitude for the decisive positions adopted by Senators McCain, Schumer, Menendez, Blunt, Shaheen and Tillis in condemning the recent missile attack against Liberty.
On behalf of the Iranian people and the residents of Camp Liberty, I would of course like to especially thank Senator McCain and Senator Jack Reed for their initiative concerning the residents of Liberty, which became part of the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act.
Today, the residents of Camp Liberty are in an extremely vulnerable and risky situation and they remain under siege.
The United States had made a commitment to protect them officially and in writing, but it has failed to uphold that commitment.
On October 29, 24 residents lost their lives in the missile attack that was directed by the mullahs.
To date, a total of 141 innocent refugees have been killed in seven attacks and 27 have lost their lives as a result of the inhumane siege.
I call upon lawmakers to urge the U.S. government to put Camp Liberty under the aerial protection of the U.S. Air Force.
The prevention of another humanitarian catastrophe at Camp Liberty and providing protection for the Iranian freedom fighters transcends the interests of the Iranian people alone.
Such measures are vital to confronting the evil of Islamic fundamentalism orchestrated by the mullahs of Iran, who in order to prevent their overthrow in Iran, are setting the whole region on fire.
The overthrow of the mullahs in Iran will guarantee peace and security in the region and the world.
I thank you all very much.

ّIran- in the memory of Reyhaneh Jabbari symbol of injustice against Iranian women
October 25 marks the anniversary of the hanging execution of Reyhaneh Jabbari in 2014.
Reyhaneh Jabbari walked to the gallows at dawn on Saturday, October 25, 2014, after seven years of incarceration.
Since then, Reyhaneh stands as the symbol of Iran’s defenseless women who are handed the death penalty without deserving it. At the same time, she has become an icon for brave women who do not succumb to the Iranian regime and its demands.
She was 26 at the time of execution. An interior designer by profession, she had defended herself against rape by a high official of the Intelligence Ministry (MOIS), Morteza Sarbandi.
Reyhaneh was viciously tortured to make false “confessions” which would whitewash the methods and image of the Ministry of Intelligence but she did not give in. Instead, she wrote about the incident and about many women in the clerical regime’s jails whose only crime was being poor.
She cried for and wrote about the victims of the clerical regime’s misogynous laws and for the young women who did not have any support in society and were victims of oppression and violence.
Let us remember on this day, this young courageous woman, Reyhaneh Jabbari, who resisted for seven years at the cost of her life to uphold her dignity and humanitarian values.
She remains an idol for young Iranian women and men who oppose the regime’s injustices and yearn freedom. In her name, and in the name of all the innocent victims of the clerical regime, the people of Iran call for justice.
Let's light a candle in loving memory of Reyhaneh Jabbari on 25th October and promise her that we will be her voice for freedom, justice and peace of all people of Iran and especially Iranian women who have been suffering form double suppression of their rights as the fascist regime of Mullahs of Iran treat them as the second class citizens
Reyaneh Jabbari's last letter (Voice message) that is considered her will
Text of Reyhaneh Jabbari's will in a voice message to her mother
I am Reyhaneh Jabbari and am 26 years old. I confess that I am no longer willing to continue this way of life. It feels as if the meaning of life is only breathing and sewing the seams of day to the seams of night. Repetition and expectation has worn out my spirit—like sand paper on my soul. At the moment both my body and my soul are bloodied and wounded. I feel like those soldiers fighting in battle. They use all their energy defeating the enemy. The ways to destroy the enemy occupies their mind so much that they no longer think of those at home. But soon if they do not achieve anything in battle, they become defeated. Stillness of expectation eats a man like termites from within. Most long wars end because the soldiers’ spirits are broken– on both sides. No matter what the leaders of a country say, no matter who they name the winner and the loser, the civilians know how much they suffered. The graveyards of both countries bare witness—chock full of pieces of their youth. Houses without roofs.I am Reyhaneh, 26, and I am tired of the grueling war I have been fighting with the Sarbandi family, for my freedom—a family that I do not hate. After all the years that have passed after the incident I have realized that although Sarbandi was not a young man, he had not learned many lessons from life. Like the fact that he had no right to lure me to a place and he had no right to force himself on me. He had no rights to me. Why did this have to happen? I thought about this day and night. Why did he attack me and how was it that a man of such stature fell to such low levels? Ours was the opposite sides of fate. I came to a conclusion that he wanted nothing more than pleasure for himself and he wanted it by force and I wanted nothing more than to break away from him— by force. I came to that discovery while speaking to my cellmates one day, yes a conclusion that the courts were not able to deduce.
For the first time in 2008, I sat and listened to the life story of one the prisoners who was there for prostitution. I used to hate her and look down on her. I hated the vile language she used and how she had lured young girls into her profession. When I used to pass her in the corridor I refused to look at her; I hated the way she walked, the way she ate even the way she slept. I hated everything about her. Even while she was in prison she was looking for new girls to recruit, because she knew soon she would be freed and would have to return to that awful profession. I looked at her like a vile, wild animal. It turned out that one day circumstances put me in a position that I got to sit with her and listen to her story. I will call her by a pseudo name: Mina M.
In 1979, as the revolution happened Mina was going to grade school. Her father had a hard time feeding his family as he had odd, seasonal jobs like shoveling snow. He left for the city of Bandar Abbas to find a job. While he was gone and the family was waiting for him to send money, the poor mother resorted to stealing food from small stores to feed her children; all in the hopes that the father will return with some money. But he never returned. Mina had two brothers and one sister. Soon the mother could not provide for schooling and Mina had to stop going to school. She would see her mother leave the house every day at sun down like clockwork. Soon her older sister started following her mother. Mina would find out the true significance of sun set.
I am Reyhaneh and I know that environment and family can influence a person’s path outside that person’s control. I know that without knowing the situation inside and out one cannot sit in judgement of another. I learned from speaking with Mina that if anyone was put in her situation they would turn out exactly like her. I realized no one in her situation could have escaped selling herself. Unless one day as they were being slaves to others, they deeply and truly wanted to escape and then a door may have opened for them to flee. Mina told me everything about her profession. She said that as soon a woman of the night is all dried up, she is tossed away like garbage with contempt. Either she is killed by someone or she kills herself. Rarely do prostitutes die a natural death or live a long, natural life.
Mina told me that her mother worked her sister and herself to death, forcing them to sell their bodies so that her two brothers could have a good, easy life. Mina hated her mother for putting such a difference between the boys and the girls. She hated her brothers. Maybe she even hated her only son who was a product of rape and only 17 years younger than her. Her son demanded that her mother still provide for him even while she was in prison! Mina told me about the first time she was “sold” to a middle aged man by a corrupt, criminal man who took part of her mother and sister’s earnings. She remembered wailing and begging for them to let her be. She was 12 and was raped. She said after that anytime she was with a man her face would be soaked in tears. She would curse her parents while she trembled and wished for death. But after a while it all became normal to her to a degree that she learned how to use special tricks to enslave other girls into the profession. I realized that the victims become the hunters after they lost all hope and start hunting for their own pray. Girls like young Mahsa, who was raped by her crack addict brother from the time she 12 years old until she was 16. She was in prison now in a Ward dubbed “flower buds”. She tried to kill herself many times even in front of people she would take broken glass and cut her wrists. Had it not been for a few kind hearted prisoners she would had died. Neesha was another young girl in prison. After her parents divorced neither wanted her. She was six and went to live with her grandmother where she was beaten and humiliated repeatedly. She was raped by her uncle many times until she was 15 so she decided to run away from that situation—a noble and right thing to do. Neesha went to live with a friend where she met a man named Ali offered to pay for her to go to beauty school. Everything was going well for Neesha until Ali introduced her to Tina—a drug addict. So this runaway who was raped by her uncle became addicted to drugs. Ali let her go but she had nowhere to go. She lived in public toilets of city parks. Sad thing is predators are not only the rapists but the police and park authorities are also predators. Out of hunger she ended up selling drugs for Tina to clients in order to survive and the end is clear. Prison.
I, Reyaenh, have a question. Where can these girls turn to when they are sexually threatened, harassed and enslaved? To whom do they turn? The government, organizations or normal citizens? Who is available to help them? I am reminded of Soheila Ghaderi [old cellmate] who lived on the street for 13 years. No easy task while being beaten. What happens to girls who are raped and become pregnant as a result? They will either have to have an abortion in rather unsanitary way or like Soheila they feel the maternal instinct and decide to have the baby just to give birth on the street bleeding and in pain. Just to have the child and realize there is no way to take of it and nowhere that their baby belongs—no way to feed it, no future, no support. So they end up killing their baby as Soheila did. Then suddenly all the organizations and people who were invisible and unavailable to these women appear out of nowhere blaming her, damning her and pointing fingers. She is arrested, prosecuted and the noose awaits her. Reporters keep on scribbling without knowing. The authorities keep on speaking like commanders in battle. No one looks into what happened or why these women turned out the way they did. Is there no one there to ask what really happened in their lives? The society keeps on reading books….The truth is that society creates a stigma around these women but never asks what could have happened to a young girl so that she started selling her body or why she became homeless on the street? They do not ask if they had a hand in their fates or if they could have done something.
I am Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26. I shall carry the burden of their stories with me. I feel responsible and sad that I had to learn all of this in prison from the women themselves. Maybe I can do my share now to help them by shedding light on their plights. The fact is no woman will start selling her body unless she has been raped. I have felt the fear of rape first hand. Sarbandi was no different than Mahsa’s brother or Neesha’s uncle. I trusted his fatherly face. But he had other plans for me. But our cold hearted laws defends the man in cases of rape. A man cannot understand the crushed, devastated soul of a girl after she has been raped nor can he understand her frozen, shocked mind and body when she is in the hands of an aroused man who wants to rape her. How can a man feel the disgust the woman feels when the rapist’s hands touch her body? The laws are written from the perspective of men. There are kind and supportive men in society but those men are not the ones who have written the laws regarding rape.
When I was 21 years old, I realized that my defending myself against rape from Sarbandi did not sit well with the courts. Without listening to my story, my lawyer and my defense and what had actually happened that day, they started to prosecute me in court. The sessions lasted only one hour, most just minutes and I was asked only one question. I soon gave up on the courts. Anytime I heard my name called on the PA system to appear in court for the next morning, I only dreamt of being free on the streets among normal, random people. The presiding judge, Tardasti, would speak to me with such hate and intimidating tone in his voice. In one session he went so far to tell me that I should have let Sarbandi rape me and then filed a complaint later .Every question was asked of me with a tone as if I was from a ring of prostitutes—his remarks were so humiliating that my ears burned from hearing them and I would be so ashamed that I would start to sweat.
I knew my parents were just outside the courtroom and I only hoped they could not hear my humiliation. I just hoped that I had not brought such shame to them. They always came accompanied by the authorities. They always brought me food and even sometimes my mother would bring me her home cooking—meals that I could no longer eat in good conscience without sharing with other prisoners. I wanted them to have some small pleasure such a home cooked meal. My parents wanted to donate meat to the prison kitchen but the prison does not accept donations of meat. I was shocked why these rules denied poor prisoners from some simple pleasure like a good meal.
I am Reyhaneh, 26 and I am living just a few steps away from death—a death that Judge Tardasti created for me. I am not afraid of death as I have lived through things much worse than death…but what I cannot tolerate is the injustice I have been treated with which onto itself is worse than death itself……
