The body of the trade unionist laid to rest in Tabriz, northwestern Iran

The funeral ceremony for the political prisoner and trade unionist, Shahrokh Zamani was held on Tuesday in the city of Tabriz, northwestern Iran.
Family, friends and a number of Tabriz locals took part in the funeral for this political prisoner whose death remains a suspicious mystery.

Following the death of political prisoner and trade unionist Shahrokh Zamani, his fellow political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, held a ceremony in hall 12 in memory of this brave labor activist. A minute of silence in the name of freedom, in the name of all the martyred prisoners and in the name of Shahrokh Zamani was held at the beginning of this ceremony.
According to other reports a group of political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison sent their condolences to the family and friends of Shahrokh Zamani.

NCRI – Iranian political prisoner Shahrokh Zamani was found dead in his prison cell on Sunday with his mouth full of blood and a bruised head. A 51-year-old labor activist and painter, Mr. Zamani was arrested in June 2011 and was being held Gohardasht (Rajai Shahr) prison in Karaj, north-west of Tehran. Exactly one year ago today he wrote a moving letter to his daughter from prison. The following is the English translation of the text of his letter

Steadfast political prisoner Mr. Shahrokh Zamani from Azerbaijan suspiciously lost his life in Gohardasht (Rajai Shahr) Prison on Sunday afternoon, September 13. At five in the afternoon, his cellmates in Hall 12 of Ward 4 found his body in his bed with his mouth full of blood and a bruised head. He was with his cellmates until 10 am this morning and as always had a high spirit. He exercised regularly.
